PINTEREST
If you haven't checked it out already, you should do so! www.pinterest.com is where to find fantastic ideas for almost any subject! I'm tracking "crafts & diy", photography, books & movies, and ideas for when we finish remodeling our farm house!
You need an invite to join or you can ask to be put on their waiting list. I waited over a week and finally asked a friend of mine to invite me. Do yourself the favor and ask someone to invite you. Click here if you want an invite.
OK, so there are so many neat, cool, and cute ideas on Pinterest for crafts. I have a folder full of ideas, pinned a lot of them on my boards and this past weekend, I made a trip to Michael's for some supplies to do some of the ideas. So here are the results of my crafts.
This is the photo from the Craft & DIY page --------->
Below are my Ribbon Trees. I bought 2 sprigs of pine branches to add to the top.
This one is from a Martha Stewart page (the center photo below). Martha's string ornaments were more "round" where mine are more "oval". Very easy, if slightly messy to make! Can be made with whatever colored cotton string you have. I liked the white. The ovals in pastel colors would be great at Easter!.
I can remember seeing these on Christmas trees somewhere, and it was so pretty with all white lights and these string ornaments. I still need to clean up the areas between the string and add the white glitter to some of these. I now have made 7 of them and they are so neat!
Saw this knot on Pinterest and immediately went looking for the rope I bought last weekend at the flea market! This was just too neat! Followed the directions thru the first time, but took a bit of time to make the knot tighter and look like a heart. Very easy with a little time!

Right: mine
These two projects were done on the computer in MS Word. These were very easy to do. All I have to do is crop these a bit and then frame them. I have several frames in our storage locker that I will pick up tomorrow (?) when we go get our Christmas decorations out of storage. Although I didn't have the exact same fonts as the originals, I liked what I did use!
The originals are on the left, my efforts are on the right.
Since I am the genealogist in the family, this one really caught my eye. I thought it would be a great idea for my Mom for a Christmas present. I don't have to worry about her seeing this since she doesn't even know how to turn on the computer! The hardest thing about this project was finding the Avery Key Tags. I had to go to an independant hardware store to find them. Michael's, Office Max, Lowe's and Home Depot didn't have them! The ones I used were Avery Split Ring Tags, Item # 11025. They come 50 to a box. HINT: Punch holes before writing names and numbers on key tags! I used my "heart" hole punch.
Great words of wisdom and I liked the advice. I used a different colored text as I only have white copy paper right now. I used similar fonts because some of these fonts I don't have on my computer. I think whatever you like is what works best! Original project on the left, mine is on the right. Will frame when I get my stuff out of the storage locker.
The project I saw on Pinterest is on the left. My project is below.
Saw something similar on Pinterest that had three hearts with the "We Met, We Married, We Lived" theme, but the "We Lived" for us are several places in three states over almost 33 years of marriage! So, I decided to concentrate on the "We Lived" portion of the project. I went to Google Maps and saved the maps and resized to 3" x 3" size. This worked for the size of wood that I had on hand. After mounting the mini maps, I used a recipe for homemade Mod Podge (equal parts Elmer's glue and water). It gave it a mat finish.
The original project on left. My finished project below. This is my Christmas present to the hubby. He'll be surprised with it if he's not checking out my website! LOL!
This was one of the first projects on Pinterest that I pinned! I loved this idea, but I didn't have any fleece on hand. After a couple of weeks of mulling it over (hey, Christmas is coming fast!), I decided to modify the project a bit and make do with what I had on hand. This is the result. The original project is on the left, mine is on the right. My son has a thing for penguins, so I changed the snowmen to penquins, but I got my inspiration from the snowmen!
I had one piece of a 2x4 left over and although not like the snowmen above, it was inspired by them!
These paper stars were so very easy to make! I only have solid colored paper on hand right now, so my stars are solid colored. I do like the printed paper stars, too! The original project is on the left, mine is below.
Some of my projects I've done. This is in lieu of having a Christmas tree this year as we are going to Texas for Christmas.
These paper ornaments were so cute I just had to make a couple of them. As I said above, I've only got solid color paper available to me right now, so I used three colors on these. I'm waiting for the glue to cure before pulling and tugging on the ornament to get a more even look to the folds. The original project is on the left; mine is one the right. Both look the same, so I only photographed one!
Saw this and loved it! Knew it would only be a matter of time before the urge to do it would push me to attempt a similar drawing. I used magic marker, colored pencils, and metalic ink to create my copy. So inspired, it only took me four hours to finish it! Most time consuming? The little, bitty circles in the background!
<----- Inspiration piece. Below, my results.
I remember one of my elementary school teachers doing this for a project for Christmas (I think). Using an opaque projector, we had to sit still for several minutes while the teacher traced around our shadow on the wall. This was much easier to do! I picked a profile photo of my grandson and printed it out on regular paper. I cut it out and traced it onto black cardstock paper and cut out again. The background paper is a background clip art that I had and just printed out a sheet with the clip art on it. Put it together and voila!
The inspiration project (above).
